WATERCOLORS

Watercolors are unique…

They are often transparent allowing the light to pass through and reflect the light of the paper like stained glass. Watercolors flow and move as the artist applies the paint, sometimes as if they have a mind of their own. This is the mystery of them. It is a practice in letting go and learning to work with them as opposed to fully controlling them. The artist becomes like the captain of a ship studying the ways of the ocean enough to learn how to be in partnership with the sea in order to get to reach the destination….
